The term "lampworking" dates back centuries before the development of modern gas torches when oil lamps were used to heat small quantities of glass to form them into beads or novelty items. Today the more common term is "flameworking" or "torchwork".

My torch of choice at this time is a Lynx by GTT (Glass Torch Technologies), a triple surface mix using propane and oxygen produced by an oxygen generator. I’m primarily using glass manufactured by Bullseye and imported glass by Effetre (Moretti), Vetrofond (Murano), Lauscha and Check.

From the first moment I lit the torch and watched the glass turn molten, I knew I was caught by the spell of the flame. The anticipation of opening the kiln to see what treasures await is always exciting to me.
